Ethereum Has Released The First Version Of Casper Upgrade
Release of Casper the Friendly Finality Gadget (FFG) upgrade, designed to change the consensus mechanism in the Ethereum network. The external developers and auditors may find it on GitHub.
According to developer Casper FFG, "version 0.1.0 marks us more clearly tagging releases to help clients and external auditors more easily track the contract and changes."
"More than just the research team is using the contract now -- auditors, client devs, etc -- so we wanted to start issuing clearer versioning and changelogs to help everyone stay organized." commented Danny Ryan.
He also added that thanks to the publication of the code, client developers can now start developing software in their own languages and testing it.
Note that the integration of Casper FFG, which will be held in the summer and autumn of this year and will combine the consensus mechanism Proof-of-Work and Proof-of-Stake. Subsequently, the developers of Ethereum plan to completely abandon PoW, but the specific time frame for this process has not yet been established.
In the near future Casper will be audited, and its integration into the network will become possible only after the developers of the main customers complete the adaptation of their software to the new mechanism. Since Casper will be incompatible with previous versions of Ethereum software, the update will be carried out by means of hardfork.
